The Pink and the Prediction.

The Pink

I am not usually a pink person, but lately I find myself drawn to HOT pink... (no baby pink allowed... grow up) I swear my hot pink scarf all the time because i don't have an abundance of great hot pink dresses or tops. This urge lead me to some discoveries. HOT PINK DISCOVERIES. Thanks fashion world.

Something a little more formal by mr. Alexander McQueen. The front drape is such an exclaimation point on this otherwise simple satin evening dress, and of course the sight of the belted waist that we're seeing take over the nation makes its appearance. The structured sholders are also great, but dont fool yourself... this doesn't work on every body.

This number is designed by Development. You could litterally wear this ANYWHERE. I bet its super comfy too! Its also PINK!

This is a little Helmut Lang action. Super casual, layered (which I will always think is a good idea), but still noticably pink.

AND the jolt of PINK in the form of Christian Louboutins. Paired for the evening with a simple black dress and clutch the shoes POP.

The Prediction

BELTED SWEATER DRESSES FOR FALL!!!!! get them for cheaper RIGHT NOW, if you can find them... cause you'll be the hottest ass on the block before anyone else... I SWEAR. Get your colour fix out now, cause come fall... the colour scheme hasn't changed since last year. GREY GREY BLACK GREY...dontforgetgrey.

Stella McCartney

Micheal Kors dress.

BRAND SPANKIN NEW CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTINS.

xoxo le fin.

p.s. My friend Stephanie Vacher and I picked us up some HOT PINK stockings. This is she. And the outfit is exactly what I love to see her in!

Say yes to sholders.

There are right ways and wrong ways, right times and wrong times to expose your sholders.

The right times:

On a hot day, to avoid tan lines when prancing around town a tube dress or any off the sholder cousin such as a halter is an appropriate time to wear certain forms of such.

The wrong times:
When your going to a club and your looking for something mega revealing just for an excuse to avoid a bra... or class.

I also suggest avoiding any strapless number that also exposes your stomach. In my opinion its never a great time to expose your stomach, but if you must please choose one portion of your body per outfit to showcase.
In this case we're talking about your sholders...
STICK TO THE SHOLDERS!

Examples!:

So right!...
Geometric shapes drapped off of your sholders that flows down your torso.
*not right for someone with larger than life breasts however...*

Great for a sunny day in the city!

wrong...

Horrible but true, some people wear things like this.
--------------------------
There are also fantastic times to wear gorgeous strapless dresses on a night out with a handsome man, or a lovely cocktail filled evening with ladies of love...

Marchesa Lace gown, gorgeous... frilly and feminine. Show off those gorgeous collarbones!

Zac Posen. Using the colour of the season, grab some attention in all the right places.

And what would the season be without some incredible shoes to accent your newly tanned skin and sexy strapless.

Evening:

Dont forget your purse!

Nancy Gonzalez!

AND FINALLY, THE WORST TUBE EXAMPLE IN SHOW BIZ HISTORY:

Thanks brit... Thanks.

Sex and the City:The Movie!

I got Carried Away!

I loved the movie. I am also completely biased. I have always been absolutly obsessed with SATC.
Even before Kyle bought me the entire series on DVD in the absolutly beautiful hot pink velvet binder.

I will not give anything away just in case someone who hasn't seen it yet sees this... (GO SEE IT) But it make me laugh, and it made me cry (hard, im a huge baby)

I was, however, dissapointed with the ending:
(***SPOILER****)
She goes back to Big (John Preston) after he leaves her in the street at her wedding and with doubts (he gets nervous and decides to ruin her life in a nut shell) and in the end SHE STILL GETS BACK TOGETHER WITH HIM? are you KIDDING?
10 years of on and off... he fucks up her life more than enough in the movie, and I wont even get into those specifics, but I dont know... I don't approve. He's SO WISHY WASHY.
Very frusterating. Un-realistic. No New York woman in her right mind would succumb to a man like that... But then again, what do I know?

The fashion in the movie was astounding. Brave, innovative and exciting. Patricia Field is incredible.

Over all 9.5/10

grecian goddess town.

This season, let it flow.

IM SO BUSY, so forgive me for the lack of posts, and the lack of effort put into this one. Mid-terms and such can be a real bummer.

But I broke away from the studies to show you some awesome examples of how to be a grecian goddess, made modern.

I dont have time for a lot of explaination, but i feel that this topic doesn't need much of it anyways. We're all firmiliar with the toga, the grecian style of dresses, flowing off the sholder and down the body, typically ending at the ankles. I've noticed some great looks inspired by this era of fashion, and I believe its a time-less elegant look that can be re-created in a modern 'NOW' way.

now for your viewing pleasure... the examples:

This is by 3.1 Philip Lim, Orchid Strapless priced at $625.00

This is done by Kenneth Jay Lane priced at $90.00

This is by Tomas Maier, priced at $680.00

Nina Ricci, Priced at $2,390.00

SHOES:

Done by Guiseppe Zanotti priced at $695.00

Miu Miu priced at $395.00

All these pieces can be found HERE!

Halston to the rescue.

Fashion week had me pretty busy with the addition of life and such, so I'll try to get caught up EVENTUALLY. But whats really been getting TONS-O-BUZZ is the return of the famous 70's disco designer.

Halston

I love a good history lesson to ease us into why whats happening now.... IS. Lets begin:

Roy Halston Frowick, also known as Halston (April 23, 1932–March 26, 1990) was an iconic clothing designer of the 1970s. His long dresses or copies of his style were popular fashion wear in mid-1970s discotheques.

He began his career as a milliner (designing the pillbox hat Jacqueline Kennedy wore to her husband's 1961 Presidential inauguration) and when he moved to designing women's wear, Newsweek dubbed him "the premier fashion designer of all America."[1] His designs were worn by Bianca Jagger, Liza Minnelli, Anjelica Huston, Lauren Bacall, Babe Paley, and Elizabeth Taylor,[2] setting a style that would be closely associated with the international jet set of the era.

His drug infused life of the 70's inarguably ended his career. He wouldn't hire junior designers to help him, and in '84 he was fired from his own label.

Halston was also famous for his designing Airline Uniforms!!!

ALSO, as a Sex and the City FANATIC (im actually watching it right now ;) ): There is a Halson reference there!:

Sex and the City episode Politically Erect, episode 32, Season 3. When she starts dating politician Bill Kelley, Carrie starts wearing vintage Halston as an homage to Jackie O.

Now I found slideshows of the recent runway action so PLEASE, feel free!!!

And then I found these two samples that are available for purchase now! which is the beauty of updated Halston: They made their Runway clothes available immediatly, avoiding the designers ego driven 'wait' period so his/her peers can judgy wudgy.

Now Personally, I LOVE this look.
However, this look I could do without, but what do I know!?!?!?

He comes at a very important time in fashion, No?
between the old ways of doing business through brick-and-mortar stores and editorial coverage, and the new possibilities through digital technology and direct access to consumers.

From Powdery Apricot and mauve shades to jackets that are long and slim, with sharp shoulders.
None of which is GROUND BREAKING, but all is practically perfect for the upcoming season. Well tailored, s
tatement pieces.

Halston doesn't offer shoes... but WE NEED A SHOE, now generally I provide a Christian Louboutian shoe, but today we're going to show off PEDRO GARCIA:

Going with the same theme of 'Practically Perfect' these shoes are just that.

A little Versace?

I gotta tell ya, im not HUGE on Versace but this new collection is extravagant, elegant and suprisingly fresh.

A little History lesson?

December 2, 1946 – July 15, 1997) was an accomplished Italian designer of both clothing and theater costumes. He was influenced by Andy Warhol, Ancient Roman and Greek art as well as modern abstract art; he is considered one of the most colorful and talented designers of the late 20th century.

Versace presented his first signature collection for women at the Palazzo della Permanente Art Museum of Milan. His first menswear collection followed in September of the same year. After presenting his menswear collection he joined Jorge Saud, who would later also become a partner with Giorgio Armani.

One July morning in the summer of 1997, returning from his customary walk on Ocean Drive, Versace was gunned down outside his ocean-front mansion in Miami Beach, Florida. He was murdered by spree killer Andrew Cunanan, who committed suicide shortly after the murder and his body was found on a boat. Police reported that Andrew Cunanan had committed suicide using the same handgun that had been used to murder Gianni Versace.

Versace was buried in Lake Como, Italy.

In September 1997, Versace's brother Santo Versace, together with Jorge Saud were announced as the new CEOs of the Versace holding. Gianni's sister, Donatella Versace, is the new head of design. Elton John dedicated his 1997 album The Big Picture to Versace.

Now on to the present:

just a few pics from the new Spring 08 Haute Couture show:

Spring and pre fall 08 Lines by Nina Ricci

Coats are KEY.

even when the weather gets warmer..... then colder.... then warmish.. ETC. In vancouver you basically need a coat in every season, dumb but true.

And with this, it seems Nina Ricci hears our cry. In her Ready-to-wear Lines of 2008 she includes the impotance of a great coat.

This is from the Spring 08 ready to wear line. The slouchy Blazer allows for a breeze. A coat isn't as much about the warmth here, but about coverage as far as fabric goes. I dont have an official garment description, but I'd bet that the coat is made of a very light airy fabric, which would be important for spring.

Here she displays the PRE-fall 2008 line. Now of course this is jumping way ahead, as we're still dealing with the chills of winter, but its great to get started on thinking about the best season of all, FALL. The pea-coat will finally leave I hope and i believe this line shows us a updated trench with a beautiful full open collar and large leather buttons.

And as a more practical piece, i found this lovely open sleved cardigan available at Saks and www.netaporter.com now:

I'd also like to point out that even though, as I have discussed the colour of the year is Blue-Iris, Grey is still a very popular neutral, which i think compliments blue-iris quite well.

re-invent grey, your way!
Dont forget to go Neon this spring too. It'll feel really good, I promise.

and just to keep it real....a shoe for all.
Another Gift from Louboutin:

Very Prive Pumps priced at $960.00

Pantones Colour of the Year is Blue Iris!!

Pantone’s choice of blue iris, or No. 18-3943, got some news media attention last week, which seemed to be partly the objective of the company, which is based in Carlstadt, N.J. In a statement, Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said: “Blue Iris brings together the dependable aspects of blue, underscored by a strong, soul-searching purple cast. Emotionally, it is anchoring and meditative with a touch of magic.”

Later, in a telephone interview, Ms. Eiseman said the selection process had been very thoughtful, based on various influences, and that indeed the final choice reflected a “need for thoughtfulness.” Five individuals were involved in the selection process. “With blue iris, we felt that it answered several needs, hopes, desires, that kind of thing,” she said.

If that strikes you as hazy, you’re not alone. “It’s a little bit on the funny side,” said Micha Riss, the creative director of Flying Machine, a branding and design firm in New York, whose clients include ESPN and Sky Italia. “I respect Pantone a lot, but I see them as a technical service. If Helmut Lang were to make such a projection, I would listen.”

Texture is Everything.

Last season, designers had ventured into the shine of their pieces. Sequins had took over the market. Im sure you noticed! Anywhere from Oscar De La Renta to whoever designs sirens clothing... its common knowladge that the ladies liked to prove their clothes have a place in the fasion world.

But now that a new season is fast approaching its not all about SHINING (although it still doesn't hurt in small doses), its about your clothes standing out in a new way.

Let me show some visual examples... These examples glorify a designer i am quite enjoying as of late...

Notte by Marchesa

Dress Numero UNO: Designed by Note by Marchesa, Black-and-gold silk blend chiffon evening dress with spotty metallic detail throughout. Notte by Marchesa dress has spaghetti straps, a gathered bodice, a zip at the side to fasten and is fully lined.
The Spotted metalic steps out of the sequined look while still aiming to stand out and sparkle. The floor length of the dress with the empire waist flows beautifully and also leaves room for great gold accessories. Very Roman.

$1,102.00 available at www.netaporter.com and Saks Fifth avenue in NY, NY.

Dress/Coat Numero DOS: Whats really imporant here is the coat... Black ostrich feather cropped jacket with short sleeves. Notte by Marchesa cropped jacket has a v neck, hook and eye fastenings at the front and is fully lined.
Animal fur such as mink and rabbit has been around forever, but what i love about this coat is that its feather in a NOT tacky way at all. If you were to talk around town on a breezy day in this, the feathers would gracefully flow just the way you would in your step.

$802.72

And the dress...Black metallic lace babydoll dress with tiered skirt and triangle bust. Notte by Marchesa dress has a velvet piped empire line, a low back, a scalloped trim, a zip fastening on back and falls above the knee.
The short length shows off your gorgeous legs but also doesn't focus on just your stems to grab attention. The bunched lace is just busy enough.

$867.30

Dress Numero TRES: Red silk blend halterneck dress with double layered bust detail. Zac Posen dress has double layered straps, a wide waistband, pleated detail throughout, a boned inside corset, a zip at the back to fasten and is fully lined. now although this may seem a simple enough dress... the use of the soft luxurious silk against a hiden corset contours to a womans natural figure which is texture enough to grab all the right attention.

$3,700.00

And to polish off this lovely post... some exquisite and extreamly expensive shoes...

Ode to Louboutin

Bling Bling platforms

Gold patent leather peep-toe platforms with oversized studded tonal crystals on the front. Christian Louboutin shoes are approximately 120mm high with a 10mm platform and signature red sole.

$1,375.00

XOXO

All Things Shiny.

All things shiny.

JEWELS!

As you may or may not know, the look of being completely bejeweled is everywhere. To be honest, im not sure who started it... Erikson Beamon jewelry has been doing it for a long time, and now its really getting recognized:

Priced at $395.00 USD these are incredible.    Multicolored crystal droplet earrings for pierced ears.
These can be found at www.netaporter.com

The Jeweled look is not just for the usual places:

Black viscose knit elongated sweater with jewel detailed neck. Tracy Reese sweater has short puff sleeves, a crew neck, keyhole detail on back with button fastening and ribbed trim hem.
this can be yours for $300.00 USD which if you ask me, is pretty impressive and affordable if high fashion is your bag.

but if things in this price rage is out of your league and you wanna be apart of this fad I have recently purchased some acessories from ALDO accesories that were cheap and perfectfor the look i was going for :

$8.00 CAD for the earrings and $15.00 CAD for the bracelet. You cant go wrong!

Stay Tuned for my rant on sequins and how in love with them I am.

you must wait till im done finals.
