Spring 2008 shows are among us... can you feel it?
Im Creating this because everyone's doing it.
Or more, I need somewhere to criticize what the common men and women in vancouver AND the fashion runways of our favorite cities around the world are wearing. Im doing this not because my opinion matters to anyone but me and the color challenged women at work, but because sometimes when you feel really right about something you gotta write it down.
So on that note, i'll get straight to the point:
Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a big fan of the following:(strictly apparel... we'll get to shoes and assesories another day)
Chanel, Yvs Saint Laurent, Diane Von Furstenberg, miu miu, 3.1Philip Lim, chloe, Stella McCartney, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, and finally jovovich-hawk... to name a few...
I read the latest reivew on the new 3.1 Phillip Lim show (ready to wear spring 2008) and i'll give you a few quotes from Lim himself and the reviewer from vogue online:
"I wanted to make clothes that were ready for travel," he said before the show. Amelia Earhart was on his mind. (brilliant!)
"Lim's evening-wear sells like hotcakes, and he expanded on the theme with a series of dresses fashioned in the style of Madame Grès, the Parisian mistress of pleats and draping. These were a sure thing for after eight, but it would have been nice to see a newer idea." (NOT SURE I AGREE AT ALL)
"some looks, like a safari jacket over a pleated chiffon dress, made obvious statements about the improvisational nature of dressing on the go."
To be honest, i watched it and i thought the clothes were pretty brilliant, the show itself.. slightly clumsy and miss directed... but since I’m not a photographer i don’t care about the presence and lighting and where the models were standing and for how long, i care about the clothes, and each of Lim's pieces had that perfect silhouette i look for in a ready to wear line.
HOWEVER, dont take my word for it... or even style.com 's word, see the line for yourself.... he really is making a name for himself!
